Case study: Catchshift in Canada – how we established a partnership through CM-Equip

How CM-Equip benefited from partnering with Catchshift’s vacuum lifters in Canada’s construction market Catchshift specializes in manufacturing advanced vacuum lifters for concrete, primarily designed for paving but also widely used in other sectors such as construction, precast, railway, and road infrastructure industries. With a focus on innovation and reliability, we have successfully expanded our reach in international markets. One pivotal event in our journey was the Bauma trade fair in Munich in 2022, where we initiated a partnership with CM-Equip, a Canadian company specializing in construction equipment distribution. This case study details the process of building this business relationship and the dynamic growth of our cooperation, which has brought mutual benefits and significantly increased our presence in the Canadian market. For potential distributors, this partnership illustrates how collaboration with Catchshift can open new sales opportunities and establish a competitive edge in local markets.

Why CM-Equip chose Catchshift – addressing the needs of the Canadian market

CM-Equip, a Canadian company specializing in construction equipment distribution, sought to expand its product range with innovative solutions that would meet the growing needs of its clients in the construction and industrial sectors. With customers increasingly demanding efficient methods for lifting and transporting heavy concrete elements—particularly in paving, construction, and prefabrication work—traditional methods were proving to be insufficient or time-consuming. This led CM-Equip to Catchshift, a partner capable of delivering technology that allowed for faster, safer, and more precise handling of heavy materials, ultimately reducing delays and operational costs. Catchshift’s vacuum lifters offered a perfect solution with their quick attachment and release capabilities and adaptable applications across construction, paving, and prefabrication. This versatility brought substantial value to CM-Equip’s clients and allowed CM-Equip to meet the specific demands of the Canadian market.

Strong partnership foundations – meeting at Bauma 2022

In October 2022, Catchshift showcased its vacuum lifters at the Bauma trade fair in Munich, where Mr. Michel Levesque, director of CM-Equip, connected with our team. Interested in the capabilities of our vacuum technology, Mr. Levesque engaged in a discussion about its various applications, especially for heavy-duty lifting in paving and construction sectors. Our exchange of information and contact details at Bauma proved to be the first step toward a fruitful partnership, reinforcing Catchshift’s commitment to strong relationships with its distributors.

From first contact to strategic partnership

A few weeks after Bauma, Mr. Levesque arranged an online meeting to explore Catchshift’s product line and discuss distribution opportunities. We provided a detailed overview of our equipment’s technical features and industry applications, highlighting their relevance to the Canadian market. The CM-Equip team, impressed by the alignment of Catchshift’s products with their clients' needs, quickly saw the potential for a distribution partnership. This experience underscores Catchshift’s approach to transparency and commitment to helping new partners understand the unique selling points of our technology.

A partnership with growth potential – initial sales and beyond

Catchshift’s commitment to fast, reliable deliveries and strong post-sale support was evident when CM-Equip purchased a demo unit (Mickey255) for initial testing and client demonstrations. The swift shipment and technical reliability of the equipment allowed CM-Equip to quickly promote Catchshift’s products to their client base, resulting in immediate interest and inquiries from new customers. Catchshift supports its partners with expedited deliveries when needed, offering flexibility that boosts client satisfaction and confidence in the partnership.

Proven results and expanding market opportunities

Only one month into the partnership, CM-Equip placed a large order for 35 units powered by a 110 V turbine, validating Catchshift’s product-market fit in Canada. Another major order followed soon after, including 55 Mickey255 units and other vacuum machines like WOLF 4000, SNAKE, and FROG 600. This success illustrates the business growth potential for distributors partnering with Catchshift—achieving market penetration, customer loyalty, and higher sales volumes.
